Boyd K. Southwick

Dr. Boyd Southwick joined Family First Medical Center in 2003. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine since 2003.

Biography

He received his Bachelor of Science degree from BYU in 1994, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He received his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000. After completing a Family Medicine Residency in Springfield, Missouri where he served as Chief Resident, he returned to Idaho Falls to practice medicine. Dr. Southwick is very active in the medical community. He served as the President of the Idaho Academy of Family Physicians (IAFP), and continues to serve on their Board of Directors since 2006. He is on the Board of Trustees of the Idaho Medical Association (IMA) and has been a delegate to the IMA for over 20 years. He is past president of the Idaho Falls Medical Society. He has served as the Chief of Staff (Medical Staff President), Chair of the Department of Family Medicine, Credentials Committee Chair, Leadership Council Chair, PPEC Chair, and Quality Committee Chair at EIRMC.

In his spare time, he loves spending time with his family, traveling, attending sporting and musical events, and playing tennis, pickleball, and golf. As an osteopathic physician, Dr. Southwick practices a “whole person” approach instead of just treating symptoms or illnesses. He values the doctor-patient relationship and strives to really listen to each patient and together work on improving overall health.
