Flint R. Packer, D.O.

Dr. Packer received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Microbiology from Idaho State University in 1993. He received his Doctorate of Osteopathic Medicine from the University of Osteopathic Medicine and Health Science in Des Moines, IA in 1997. After completing a Family Practice Residency through the University of Iowa he returned to his home state of Idaho. Dr. Packer has served as a Chairman of Department of Family Medicine and has served 6 years on the EIRMC Hospital Board of Directors. He has also been the recipient of the Frist Humanitarian Award from ERIMC. Dr. Packer enjoys the full spectrum of Family medicine, caring for newborn babies to geriatrics and everything in between (excluding obstetrics). He enjoys building a relationship with his patients, and believes that is so important for continuity of care. He approaches your healthcare as a partnership, where you work with him to optimize your health and improve the quality of your life.

Boyd K. Southwick, D.O.

Dr. Boyd Southwick joined Family First Medical Center in 2003. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Family Medicine since 2003.

He received his Bachelors of Science from BYU in 1994, graduating Magna Cum Laude. He received his medical degree from Kirksville College of Osteopathic Medicine in 2000. After completing a Family Medicine Residency in Springfield, Missouri where he served as Chief Resident, he returned to Idaho Falls to practice medicine. Dr. Southwick is very active in the medical community. He is past President of the Idaho Falls Medical Society, and delegate to the Idaho Medical Association. He is on the Board of Directors of the Idaho Academy of Family Physicians. At EIRMC, he has served as chief of staff and has also served as Chairman of the Department of Family Medicine. Currently, Dr. Southwick is the Medical Director, of Hands of Hope Home Health and Hospice and Teton Post Acute Care & Rehabilitation. As an osteopathic physician, Dr. Southwick practices a “whole person” approach; instead of just treating symptoms or illnesses, he regards the body as an integrated whole. He is excited to get to know you and your family in focusing on health and wellness.

 

Craig Steiner, MD

Dr. Craig Steiner joined Family First Medical Center in 2021. He is board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. Dr. Steiner received his Bachelors of Science Degree in Exercise Science from Brigham Young University in 2014.

He received his Doctorate of Medicine and graduated with honors from the University of Washington in 2018. He completed his Family Medicine Residency at the McKay-Dee Family Medicine Residency in Ogden, UT where he served as Chief Resident. During his residency training, Dr. Steiner completed an emphasis in Sports Medicine and worked as a team physician for Weber State University Athletics, served as team physician for a local high school football team, performed event and training room coverage, and provided ski clinic medical care. He is very passionate about helping patients maximize physical performance regardless of their current level of activity. Upon completion of his training, he was excited to return with his wife and children to their home town of Idaho Falls to practice family medicine. As a family medicine physician he enjoys the opportunity to care for patients of every age from newborns to geriatrics. Dr. Steiner is also qualified to administer Accutane treatments for patients moderate to severe acne. He believes that medical care should be uniquely adapted to each person. His goal is to work in partnership with his patients to empower them to live the highest quality of life possible.

Tyson C. Parker, PA-C

Tyson joined Family First Medical Center in 2011. As a native of Idaho Falls, he is pleased to be working in his hometown to help his patients optimize their health and achieve a better quality of life.

After receiving a Bachelor’s Degree from BYU-Idaho in 2005, he attended Idaho State University, where he received a Master’s Degree in physician assistant studies in 2007. He is licensed by the Idaho Board of Medicine, certified by the NCCPA, and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. He has worked in family medicine, urgent care, and rural health care settings, and enjoys helping his patients to live happier, healthier lives. Tyson diagnoses and treats a wide spectrum of conditions, but has a particular interest in cardiology, including hypertension, diabetes, and cholesterol management. Tyson believes that the best quality care can be obtained when relationships are built on trust and compassion, and is committed to providing that for his patients. He spends time listening to your concerns and responding in an empathetic and compassionate way. In partnership with Dr. Packer and Dr. Southwick, he looks forward to meeting and treating your whole family.

Shelley L. Davis, PA-C

Shelley joined Family First Medical Center in 2013 after completing her Master’s Degree in Physician Assistant Studies at Idaho State University.

She is licensed by the Idaho Board of Medicine, certified by the NCCPA and is a member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. Prior to pursuing her life-long dream of a career in the medical field she had earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biochemistry in 1994 and subsequently enjoyed working in biological and chemical research and development, management, journalism and pharmaceutical sales. As a primary care physician assistant, she enjoys treating the whole family – from the newest born to their grandparents. She is excited to be part of a medical practice that works as a team, not only with each other but with their patients, whom they compassionately treat as an extended member of their own family. Shelley believes that each person is unique and deserves care that centers on their personal physical, mental and emotional needs. She looks forward to developing the trust necessary to partner with her patients to find their best path for optimal health. Alan Adams, PA-C

Alan Adams joined Family First Medical Center in the summer of 2018. Alan grew up here in Ammon, Idaho and is excited to be able to provide quality healthcare to the community he loves.

Alan is a graduate of Brigham Young University in Utah where he obtained a Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science. He then went on to obtain a Master of Medical Science (MMS) degree and associated Physician Assistant training at Salus University in Philadelphia and graduated with Highest Honors. His medical rotations included specialty training in orthopedics, dermatology, emergency medicine, surgery, gynecology, pediatrics, and family medicine. He is nationally certified by the NCCPA, and member of the American Academy of Physician Assistants. He began practicing in 2015 at a community health center in Idaho Falls, working with under-served populations. This has provided him additional experience in managing many severe chronic health conditions and mental health concerns. Alan is passionate about primary care and enjoys the opportunity to establish relationships with his patients to help them meet their goals and have the best quality of life possible. He is compassionate, will listen closely to your concerns and looks forward to the opportunity to help serve you and your family. Alan is proficient in medical Spanish and also speaks Italian. Alan is a husband and father and he enjoys spending time with his family. Also enjoys soccer, hiking, music, comedy and continued learning.

 
 

Spencer W. Southwick, MPT

Spencer W. Southwick, MPT joined Family First Medical Center as the director of a newly created physical therapy department in July 2017. Prior to his move to Idaho Falls, he had been practicing physical therapy for 19 years in Vancouver, Washington.

For Spencer, joining Family First Medical Center means coming home as he was raised in nearby Sugar City, Idaho. He completed his BS degree at Utah State University and then went on to earn his Masters of Physical Therapy degree from the University of Utah in 1998. Spencer has broad experience in treating musculoskeletal injuries of the spine and the upper and lower extremities. He’s worked extensively with work injuries, motor vehicle accidents, and orthopedic post-operative care. Spencer has a special interest in treating patients who suffer from vertigo. He has also had training related to treating pain syndromes related to peripheral nerve sensitization. Spencer cares for his patients and enjoys creating individualized plans for recovery and long-term health. He believes that recovery is best facilitated when patients are invested in their own recovery, have a relationship of trust with their therapist and work together in a thriving partnership. Spencer strives for this relationship with his patients and loves building connections with them as they achieve their goals. He is eager to welcome you to Family First Medical Center and looks forward to serving you and your family. Outside of work, Spencer enjoys spending time with his wife, Renae and their five children.

Candice Tovey, PT

Candice joined Family First in December of 2020. She graduated with her Doctorate of Physical Therapy from Idaho State University in 2014.

She has since spent her time primarily in orthopedics and women’s health, but enjoys seeing a variety of conditions. She is trained in Dry Needling and Visceral Mobilization. Candice loves the opportunity to educate and work with patients to help better themselves and get back to the activities they enjoy. She enjoys spending time with her family, enjoying the great outdoors, and playing with her pups and two boys.

 

Emilie Peterson PT

Dr. Emilie Peterson, PT, DPT, joined the Family First Medical Center Physical Therapy Department in 2021. She was raised nearby in Ririe, ID and received her Bachelors of Health Science Degree from Boise State University in 2010. Her Doctorate of Physical Therapy Degree was from Idaho State University and completed in 2014.

Emilie's experience is primarily based in orthopaedics, and has years of experience treating neck and back pain, headaches, shoulders, knees, and feet. She is certified in dry needling and specializes in women's health and pelvic floor dysfunction. Emilie believes that anyone with aches or pains could benefit from physical therapy and has a reputation of being thorough with her evaluations and treatment plans and skilled with her manual therapy techniques. She is fluent in Spanish. Emilie likes to exercise and stay active with yoga, biking, hiking, paddleboarding, snowboarding, and spending time with her son.

Sarah L. Davis, PTA

Sarah is an Idaho Falls native. She received her Physical Therapy Assistant license in 2006 from Idaho State University (ISU). From there she practiced physical therapy while she continued to finish her undergraduate Bachelor of Health Science Degree in 2008.

After school, she continued specialized manual therapy education classes through the Institute of Physical Art and The Barral Institute. Her treatment and training experience has included everything from the neck, back, knee, shoulder, nerve, and ankle pain to abdominal pain and pelvic floor dysfunction. Sarah has a combined his, mine, and ours family of six aged from 20 to 2 years old. This keeps life exciting. She loves to bike, run, hike, camp, and participate in races and triathlons. She started with Family First in December 2017 and has enjoyed the professional, friendly atmosphere while she continues to work one on one with patients doing what she loves.

Ben Dearing, PTA

Ben graduated from BYU-Idaho with an AAP Physical Therapy Assistant degree in 2017. He is currently working on getting his BS in Exercise Physiology with an emphasis in Program Design.

Before coming to Family First Medical, Ben worked Clinical Affiliations in Salt Lake City, which specialized in spinal injuries and lower back pain. Ben also has two years of experience for the geriatric population in Transitional Rehab. Ben has a wife and one daughter; he enjoys anything outdoors, recreational activities, running, and hiking. Ben also has a passion for health, nutrition, and overall wellness. Ben Joined Family First Medical in October 2019 and has enjoyed the professional, welcoming atmosphere. He cannot wait to work one on one with you and your families.

Brooke Randall PTA

Brooke attended Utah State University where she earned her Bachelor degree in Human Movement Science. She later completed her Physical Therapist Assistant degree at Idaho State University in 2018.

Working in physical therapy brings joy to Brooke as she helps others get back to doing the activities they love and improving their quality of life. Brooke was born and raised on a farm in Wilford, Idaho. Staying busy and being involved in sports and organizations has been a part of her life since a young girl. Brooke is an animal lover and is particularly fond of horses and pigs. When she finds a spare moment, Brooke is happiest spending time with her family and going on outdoor adventures. She also likes to run, read, and cook new recipes.

Aaron joined family first in 2023. He graduated from ISU where he received his AAS in Physical Therapist Assistant degree in 2017. His experience includes, outpatient, transitional care, and home health.

He is especially passionate about therapeutic exercise and working with the geriatric population. His hobbies outside of work and include hiking, anything in or near the water and mountains, automobiles, and gem hunting. Aaron loves helping every patient reach their goals and meet maximum outcomes.

Kate received her license in Massage Therapy in 2010 at the Ogden Institute of Massage Therapy. Upon graduation, she founded Sweet Escapes Massage which she grew into a successful practice until moving to Idaho in December 2021.

Along with managing Sweet Escapes Massage, she also provided care for patients at Rocky Mountain Clinic of Chiropractic in Harrisville, UT for 8 years. Her areas of focus include minor and major muscle aches, post surgery care, workplace accidents, motor vehicle accident rehabilitation and sports injury. Her specialty methods focus on pain management through deep tissue massage and trigger point therapy. She will be providing a key component, alongside the physical therapist and doctors at Family First Medical Clinic, to create healing and recovery as a critical service to the community of Idaho Falls.
